The Full Moon Is a Detox Window
Plus this week: self-tanning tips, smart toilets and a crispy zucchini pizza recipe
Welcome back to Glow Code, your weekly drop of what’s actually worth your attention in wellness, beauty, and nutrition, plus a little spirituality to send you off feeling hotter, healthier, and more magnetic.
Last weekend, my mom, sister, and I ate frozen cherries, coco whip, honey, and flaky salt on repeat. Utter deliciousness. That’s the energy we’re bringing into this full moon week.
But before the full moon intel… some quick news.

QUICK FAVS TO BE HOTTER AND HEALTHIER
HOT
Summer hot girl walk essentials. The early 2000s trends are making their comeback this summer: tinted lenses, oversized frames (Olsen twins, anyone) and rimless styles. Permission to embody the drama on the walking trail. These are Paige Desorbo-approved and less than $20.
As a blondie, I’ll be skipping the butter yellow trend and reaching for my fav non-toxic self-tanner instead. If you’ve ever had the heartbreak of patchy legs after a tan – here are some tips. For one, slice a lemon and glide it across your lower legs before applying.
HEALTHY
A low-stress approach to lowering EMF exposure: I use wired headphones when convenient (like in my beach bag) and switch my phone to airplane mode at night. Dr. Pompa is championing this movement.
Tiny movement snacks throughout the day are mighty. They support circulation, inflammation, and your NEAT (the energy your body burns outside of workouts). Even a few bridges or side leg lifts in bed during an ad break (cough, Love Island premiering soon) or a rendezvous around the office counts.
WEEKLY HITS
The smart toilet era is here. There are now TWO separate devices designed to turn your toilet into a health monitoring system. Withings U-Scan and Kohler’s Dekoda. Invasive? Probably. Revolutionary? Yeah absolutely. As a cancer survivor, I can’t help but imagine its potential to catch something early. Here’s a holistic nutritionist’s review.
Rejoice! Hone Health just launched the Menopause Time Off movement. Their 2026 survey found that nearly 90% of women said menopause symptoms have impacted their work, and 68% report losing up to 10 hours of productivity per week. Hone is now offering $1,000 microgrants to women whose workplaces don’t offer menopause-inclusive leave. PCOS to PMOS and now this – women’s health is making moves.
Akkermansia is being called a natural GLP-1 enhancer, and if you caught the Bossstick’s podcast or follow Dr. Mark Hyman, you already know this formula is trusted by leading health experts. It supports overall gut health and impacts the gut-brain axis signals that regulate hunger and cravings (hence the GLP-1 component). In the meantime, load your plate with the polyphenol foods that feed this strain: apples, wild blueberries, pomegranate, dark chocolate, garlic, red cabbage, green tea, and turmeric.
NUTRITIONIST’S CORNER
Luis Mojica’s new book Food Therapy reframes every food choice through a simple lens: is this a stimulant, a depressant, or a balancer?
Here’s a quick balancer recipe:
Crispy Zucchini Pizza
Grate 1 zucchini and squeeze out the excess liquid with a cheesecloth
Mix zucchini with 1 egg, ¼ cup almond flour, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic and any other spices you love
Roast at 425 F for about 15 minutes
Add toppings (chicken sausage, Rao’s sauce, tomatoes, basil, mozzarella)
Roast again until the cheese melts
COSMIC VIBES
Lucky for us, May is giving us TWO full moons!! The second one happens this week on Sunday, May 31. Our bodies are responding to lunar cycles whether we acknowledge it or not because:
The moon governs the tides through gravitational pull, and our bodies are roughly 60% water.
Moon cycles can influence sleep patterns, hormone fluctuation and even the tone of our nervous system. Ask anyone who has worked in psychiatrics during a full moon!
This full moon window is a peak time of release, both energetically and physically. When we become even 20% more conscious during the full moon (and the 48 hours before and after), we optimize our body’s ability to detox. Imagine how cool it is to be on the same team as the moon.
So here’s how to feel noticeably hotter, healthier and more magnetic by Monday, step-by-step.
Hydration first.
Start your morning with a large glass of (room temperature or warm) water, fresh lemon, and a pinch of pink salt or your fav electrolytes; just check for added sugar. Maybe you’re slightly desensitized after seeing it on 4738364 Tik Tok morning routines, but from the POV of a holistic nutritionist, it does a lot: activates digestion, supports the liver, gets your lymph moving.
Build your plate around plants.
Aim for half your plate to be vegetables. Lean into mucilaginous foods like oats and cooked root vegetables (sweet potatoes). They coat and soothe the digestive tract, which helps your gut get an A+ on its job eliminating toxins. Vegetable soups and broths work wonders, but for summer-friendly options, incorporate steamed or sautéed greens and simple lean proteins like fish or eggs.
Pull back on the stuff that burdens your liver.
Alcohol, ultra-processed foods, and excess sugar all ask for extra effort from your detox organs. Even just a few days of a break makes a tangible difference for a monthly clearing: elimination and repair.
Prioritize rest like it’s your job (it is).
Picture your nervous system as the conductor and your digestive system as the orchestra. When you’re in fight-or-flight (chronically stressed), the orchestra becomes stressed and painfully off key. First step: take care of the conductor by deep breathing, boundaries around screen time, time outside, and getting a restful 8 hours of sleep – and you’ll create a beautiful harmony. These are not soft suggestions. Nothing really works without it.
Optional but worth knowing about.
I take a cycle of an herbal supplement a couple days before and a couple days after the full moon to work with the moon’s detoxifying power. It isn’t required, and the practices above stand entirely on their own, but it’s worth knowing if you’re looking to level up.
Go be magnetic, and see you next week! xx
